During her electrifying performance on NBC’s The TODAY Show Friday (Aug. 14), Janelle Monae’s performance was reportedly cut off by the morning program’s anchor.

Following Monae’s rundown of her set list, she shared a pertinent message on police relations in America, which was reportedly cut short by the show’s host. “Yes Lord! God bless America! God bless all the lost lives to police brutality. We want white America to know that we stand tall today,” the “Q.U.E.E.N.” singer said. “We want black America to know we stand tall today. We will not be silenced…”

A few melodies she performed included “Yoga” and “Tightrope” before she mentioned an important statement on police relations in America.
