Get The Details On Raekwon’s Limited Edition “Purple Tape” Capsule Collection

Raekwon has been riding a huge wave this year as he released his new EP F.I.L.A, and is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his critically-acclaimed album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, which dropped in 1995.

But the festivities are far from over–he is releasing a limited edition pair of “Purple Tape” sneakers in partnership with Packer Shoes and Diadora. The new footwear will feature the OB4CL track list on the inside and were manufactured in Italy.

The sartorial celebration of the classic album also includes a fitted cap collaboration with Packer and New Era, as well as a track jacket and t-shirt collaboration with Packer and Diadora. Mike Packer and Raekwon recently stopped by Sway In The Morning were they discussed the endeavor. “Me and Packer – we wanted to just give back in our little way,” said Raekwon. “I felt like this is something that is going to be monumental, something people will remember.”

The “Purple Tape” capsule collection is a U.S. exclusive, which will be released on Thursday, August 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. only in New York City at S.O.B’s. The retail price for the sneakers is set at $200. The first 95 people in line to cop the kick will receive a free ticket to Raekwon’s “Purple Tape” 20th anniversary show at the venue that night.
