More Bad News: Brown University Strips Bill Cosby Of His Honorary Degree

Brown University has stripped Bill Cosby of his honorary degree, becoming the third college to rescind a degree from him in only a week, The Daily News reports.

“It has become clear, by his own admission in legal depositions that became public this summer, that Mr. Cosby has engaged in conduct with women that is contrary to the values of Brown and the qualities for which he was honored by the University in 1985,” wrote University President Christina Paxson in an article that appeared in the school’s paper, the Brown Daily Herald.

This past Thursday (Sept. 24), Fordham University and Marquette University took back the degrees awarded to Cosby, the first time either school has had to do so. Notably, Brown is the first Rhode Island institution to ever rescind a degree.

Central State University, Temple University, Boston’s Berkeley College of Music, University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Spelman College have also distanced themselves from the controversial comedian in the midst of allegations that he has drugged and/or sexually assaulted numerous women, including former models Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson.
