Daddy Yankee Dedicates His New Song To Don Francisco At Madison Square Garden
Daddy Yankee bids farewell to Sabádo Gigante.
Over the weekend, the Spanish-speaking world tuned in to watch Daddy Yankee perform live on the final episode of Univision's Sabádo Gigante. The longest running Spanish-language variety show on TV held a very commemorative episode dedicated to the people on-set and behind the scenes. The Puerto Rican rapper saluted the show and host Mario Kreutzberger a.k.a Don Francisco, alongside an army of special performances from the likes of Shakira, Juanes, Gloria Estefan, and Enrique Iglesias.
During his highly-anticipated "King Daddy" concert at Madison Square Garden, Yankee streamed a live performance of his new song, "Vaivén." The concert marked the heartthrob's return to New York City since his breakthrough single "Gasólina" 10 years ago. This was his way of paying homage to Francisco for giving him his first nationally televised opportunity to perform his music.
"Don Francisco was the first person who gave me a shot on national television. I’ll always be indebted to him," Yankee told Billboard.
Veterans like Don Omar, Zion y Lennox, Wisin y Yandel, Nicky Jam, and more shared the stage with Yankee for the sold out show. Watch the special dedication to Francisco and "Sabádo Gigante" below.
