Diggin’ In The Crates: The Sample In Tyga’s “Stimulated”

A super brief history on the samples used in that song you can’t get out of your head

Tyga really likes Kylie Jenner. So much so that he dedicated a song to penetrating her in the form of “Stimulated.” But wait! There’s more. The ex-Young Money rep released an actual video of the odd couple rubbing noses and locking lips in his West Coast mansion while he jots down his rhymes in a marble notebook. “They say she young, I should have waited/ She a big girl, dog, when she stimulated,” he raps.

While T-Rawww hasn’t exactly made headlines for “Stimulated” the way Kendrick Lamar did for “Control,” he should consider entering the Guinness Book of World Records for “Most Mentions In TMZ.” The 25-year-old rapper’s romantic affiliation with the youngest Jenner (who, for the record, just turned 18 last month) has undoubtedly put his PR to task.

Here, we zoom into the sample used for “Stimulated,” a cut off his Fuk What They Talkin Bout mixtape. Put on your listening ears and read below.

Sample Identified In: Tyga “Stimulated”

As First Heard On: Robert Miles’ “Children (Dream Version)” – Yes, as Complex pointed out earlier this week, the name of the sample Tyga used about sexing a then-underaged thirst trap is called “Children.” The 1995 hit was the stuff that New York’s 103.5 KTU station would eat up. Italian trance producer, Miles, went global with the track (which hit #1 in more than 12 countries), serving as the lead single on his November 1995 LP, Dreamland. The music video for “Children” also mirrors a sequence you’d probably see in your zzz’s with visions of the World Trade Center, a dancing clown, children laughing and ravers getting their life to the piano-driven melody.

Spin-off Samples: Obscure rap tracks have dusted off Miles’ breakout jam for their own material. The Based God, Lil B, used subtle hints of the radio edit for “Rules Of The Game” off his 2012 Halloween H20 mixtape. Jackie Chain also swiped the Miles melody for the nightlife VIP anthem “Rollin’” featuring then-rap rookie, KiD CuDi.
