On Monday, September 21, 2015, President Barack Obama proclaimed Sept. 22 as National Voter Registration Day.

Via the White House:

I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim September 22, 2015, as National Voter Registration Day. I call upon all Americans to observe this day by registering to vote.

It’s imperative that Latinos especially exercise their right to vote, considering that the 2016 GOP will need more than 40 percent of the Latino vote in order to win. “When we talk about the national Latino vote, Republicans cannot simply win if they target 40 percent,” said Matt Barreto co-founder of the polling firm Latino Decisions. “That is a metric of 12 years ago when the electorate looked very different.”
