“The Mayan Project is very much in the infancy stages,” tweeted Sutter. “I will be co-creating with another writer who will run the show if it moves forward.”

While many anticipate the spinoff to cross paths with the original, Sutter maintains that the new show will steer into uncharted territory. “Although the Mayan Project may intersect with SOA charters, it will be a very different show. Tone, pace, storytelling, will be unique,” he added.

In the beginning of the series, the members of the Mexican-based biker club were known as the sworn enemies of Jax (played by Charlie Hunnam) and his crew of hardcore SAMCRO brethren. Toward the end, both clubs established a truce and began to work together. It hasn’t been established whether or not the series will take place before or after the events that occurred in SOA.
