RL And The "Why You Always Lyin" Guy Finally Meet And It's Epic
This might be one of the best moments in Black Twitter history.
RL from the 90s R&B group Next, who crafted the inescapable hit "Too Close" finally met Black Twitter's national treasure, 21 year old Nicholas Fraser who unknowingly crafted one of the hottest songs of 2015 with his "Why You Always Lying."
Fraser AKA Mr. MmmmmOhMyGod will make his television debut on an upcoming episode of MTVs Uncommon Sense, and finally received the opportunity to meet RL, the creator of the original song his parody derives from. While it seems from the above photo, everything went smoothly, during an interview with #YouKnowIGotSoul R&B Podcast, RL says he's a bit P.O'd by the parody.
"Vlad asked me to make a video to make light of it and I did it reluctantly because I am going to be honest: I don’t know how I feel about it. You are making a parody of my life’s work. And on one end, I don’t want to be a stickler and, you know, seem like I am bitter or anything. But you are kind of making a parody of something that I really worked hard with. It is something that I continue to get residuals from and you know, it is part of my identity…I promise you, people will send me different languages and like, ‘Did you see this?’ And I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I try to make light of it but it is getting to the point of overkill.”
Despite his hesitation, RL obviously understands Fraser's parody was all in good fun and was still a good sport about it all.
