Nike’s First-Ever Basketball Collection For Women, By Women Has Arrived
When it comes to the gold standard of athletic wear, Nike undoubtedly reigns supreme as the world’s most valuable sports brand, ever.
However, they have yet to tap into one market just yet, which seemed like a no-brainer: a performance-oriented women’s basketball line. 18 years after the launch of the WNBA, Nike has finally created a basketball collection for women, by women.
Dubbed the Elite Basketball collection, pro players Elena Delle Donne, Skylar Diggins, Chiney Ogwumike and Sue Bird consulted on the new line that aims to provide a seamless fit and feel. Ladies who swear by athletic garbs can look forward to must-have pieces like tailored pants, lightweight shorts, a mesh hoodie and contoured tops.
“We did a lot of focus groups with both high school and professional basketball players from across the country to make sure we were creating the right styles and incorporating the wants and needs for the female athlete,” said Chris Burke, Nike Basketball’s global apparel director, in a statement.
