Hood By Air’s ‘Empire’ Collection Would Make Cookie Lyon Proud

Empire’s vivacious leading lady, Cookie Lyon, has inspired Hood By Air’s 2015 fall collection. But wait, there’s more. Taraji P. Henson’s face is now a leading symbol in the fight against gender discrimination.

Hood By Air’s Shayne Oliver gave Vogue the lowdown on the inspiration that brought the trendy collection to life. After hearing about HBA’s Cookie Lyon theme during their spring fashion show earlier this year, FOX tapped Oliver to create the official clothing line based on the show.

The new line includes gender-neutral, “Empire”-themed tees, hoodies, sweatshirts, tanks, shorts and a luxorious “Victory” robe. The collection also comes complete with accessories such as the “Pillow”-based clutch and backpack. The production’s main characters like Cookie, Jamal, Hakeem, Lucious, and even Beckie are used to create abstract, yet dope statements like the mischievous “Lucious Exposed” sweatshirt or Cookie’s infamous “Stop Snitching” tee (see gallery above).
