UFC President Confirms There Will Be A Rematch Between Ronda Rousey And Holly Holm
Ronda Rousey’s stunning knockout loss to Holly Holm at Saturday night’s UFC 193 still has the Internet’s ears ringing. The wildly-popular fighter was taken down in the second round against the former Holm, a former boxer and currently undefeated MMA fighter. And as the memes continue being posted left and right, it looks like Rousey will get to avenge her loss. According to UFC president Dana White, the two will “absolutely” meet again.
“There will absolutely be a rematch. It’s the fight that makes sense,” White said, TMZ reports.
Rousey reportedly spent the night in an Australian hospital following the brutal loss. She is also “depressed,” having suffered a considerable wound in her lip that will require plastic surgery. White praised both fighters, giving Rousey credit for her accolades in the sport thus far, and Holm status as a veteran fighter in multiple sports, having fought 45 times.
What this woman has done has never been done before. We’ve been doing this for 15 years with huge stars, and Ronda has broken every record,” he said. “Holly had 45 fights before and multiple world titles. She was totally calm and cool.”
It will likely take Rousey some time to bounce back, but Rousey vs. Holm 2.0. might pull in more money than Mayweather and Pacquiao did. Stay tuned.
