NBA Store NYC Brings An Interactive Experience Just In Time For The Holidays
New York City’s NBA flagship store has returned bigger than ever. Located on the bustling southeast corner of 45th Street and world-renown 5th Avenue, the new and improved NBA Store stands 3-floors tall (and 25,000 square feet) in its b-ball lovin’ glory.
Once eyes are placed on the glowing location, onlookers are greeted with a 32-foot high basketball net, powered by colorful, sturdy LED lights. From outside the ground level’s transparent windows, game stats and a live game broadcast can be seen on the 400 square-foot video wall. Not too far is a New York City NBA Collection section perfect for tourists or visitors looking for the perfect memory token from the Big Apple.
Just (second) level above the entrance is an interactive floor with a locker room theme, decked out in NBA, D-League and WNBA apparel for toddlers, kids and women. Interactive product displays are peppered throughout, allowing fans to shop and locate top-selling merchandise on NBAStore.com, compare the stats of their favorite players, personalize a jersey, and more. While Spalding ball finished benches add authenticity, the NBA 2K Video-game kiosks and pop-a-shots lets fans compete against each other. The rear home goods area allows guests to purchase cool accessories, order bedding or utilize the concierge services after finishing with more shopping bags than anticipated.
The lower level, on the other hand, is the icing on the b-ball cake. Once foot is set on the hardwood floors, up-tempo music swirls around you as you feel like you’ve entered every die-hard NBA fan’s dream. To the left, there’s an authentic gear section, loaded with on-court product and items worn by elite players on game day. To the right, there’s a glass case filled with premium memorabilia, from signed sneakers to on-court jerseys, all ranging from a couple hundred dollars all the way up to $75K.
In the corner, your eyes naturally draw to the familiar throwback jersey section (created in partnership with brands like Mitchell & Ness and Adidas). All-Star & Christmas Day game jerseys of the past bring on a retro sense of nostalgia, including the new Christmas Day game jerseys to be worn by Kobe Bryant on his last game and Steph Curry during the rematch game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
As you make your way to the back, a chandelier of basketballs hangs from the ceiling, the fitting rooms walls give an aerial court-side huddle view and a wide hat wall displays over 2,500 hats and snapbacks. A section of leisurewear is seen nearby showcasing an exclusive collection of jackets, 47 Brand joggers, shirts and more. At the very back of the sub-level, fans are welcomed to the footwear area accented with a 40-foot wall, holding 250 pairs of shoes and limited edition kicks from Jordan Brand, Nike and more. The court-themed, shiny hardwood floors are stamped with life-sized footprints of NBA stars like Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan at their famous dunk spots.
With the Christmas holiday right around the corner, the New York City NBA Store has opened its doors on Monday, December 21st and is located at 545 Fifth Avenue. While looking for that perfect gift or two, the store’s interactive & engaging aspects will easily make hours fly by. There is nothing in this store that a NBA fan won’t appreciate or enjoy.
