Ricky Martin Endorses Hillary Clinton, “A Latina At Heart”

Viva

Ricky Martin has officially announced his support for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming presidential election. Martin made the announcement on Twitter ahead of one of Clinton’s most important campaign events in Orlando, where she’ll detail her $275 billion infrastructure plan before one of the largest Puerto Rican communities in the country.

Since her plans include building new roads, bridges, rail systems and airports, Clinton would be aiding the Latino community by creating new jobs, something Martin feels is imperative in 2016.

“Our community has been continuously attacked by Donald Trump and other Republican presidential candidates,” said Ricky Martin to BuzzFeed News. “A few months ago I raised my voice against Trump’s hateful rhetoric and standing with me was Hillary Clinton. Time after time, Hillary has shown her commitment to the Latino community and that is why I’m proud to support her and to stand with her because ella está con nosotros y nuestras familias.”

As one of the first artists to speak out against Donald Trump, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer is confident Clinton will be the better choice for U.S. Latinos, especially in his native Puerto Rico. Both Clinton and Martin also share the same views on immigration reform and LGBT issues, which probably helped sway his decision.

About this being Latina bit, though…
