Sanaa Lathan Reloads For Racially Charged Series 'Shots Fired'
Sanaa Lathan is drawing attention to gun violence and racial discrimination in new FOX-released series.
FOX is joining the discussion on gun violence and racial discrimination and has enlisted help from actress Sanaa Lathan. The network has ordered a new series, Shots Fired, which examines the unfortunate aftermath of gun violence in a small town in Tennesee.
It was confirmed earlier that The Perfect Guy star would be teaming up for a FOX-released series, but the details concerning the show weren't fleshed out just yet until now. It was recently revealed that Lathan will be the leading lady in the drama, playing an expert investigator of the progressing issue. Her character will look into the cases with the help of the Justice Department, attempting to bring justice to the unsolved cases and various victims.
The new series comes at an appropriate time, considering the countless media coverage and conversation surrounding racism and gun violence. And like many other stories of injustice that have taken over the news as of late, president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, David Madden, says it is a pertinent story to share. "This is not only an important story to tell, but also an explosive mystery-thriller, and we couldn't be in better hands both with the creative team behind this, along with the very talented Sanaa Lathan leading the cast."
The politically-motivated series, Shots Fired is set to air some time in 2016. Keep you eyes open for an official trailer.
