What If Mulan, Snow White, Pocahontas & Tiana Were Selena?
Selena Quintanilla, whose untimely death came at the tipping point of Tejano music, will forever live in the hearts of her fans. One artist who certainly proves this is Isaiah Stephens, an incredibly talented and multifaceted illustrator based in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Stephens, who professed his love for the late singer, used his animation scorcery to create a series of drawings reimagining the Queen as classic Disney princesses. Each “fun, light-hearted, and nostalgic” illustration took between two to eight hours to create. The end results? Utterly swoon-worthy. “I absolutely love Selena,” said Stephens to Latin Times, adding that he was prompted to create the drawings upon a special request from Cosmo Latina reporter, Alanna Nuñez.
Peep the slayage. Mulan, Snow White, Pocahontas, Tiana, Jasmine and Esmeralda look fab AF…
Mulan werking it in high-waisted jeans and a blouse crop-top, one of Selena’s signature looks.
Snow White as Selena at the 1994 Grammys, where the late Queen of Tejano Music won the award for Best Mexican-American Music.
Pocahontas SLAYING on the cover of Amor Prohibido.
Tiana rocking Selena’s now-infamous bustier. Fun fact (courtesy of Isaiah): The design on this now-famous bra was a mistake. Selena wanted to glue rhinestones onto both cups, but ran out halfway through, which is why only one is fully covered.
Esmerelda as Selena wearing the infamous purple jumpsuit from her last concert at the Houston Astrodome in February of 1995.
Jasmine killing it in one of Selena’s many trademark black bustiers.
