The Internet collectively and expectedly went crazy after Harvey's televised blunder on Sunday night (Dec. 20), in which he crowned Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutiérrez, as the winner of the pageant, only to apologize to the beauty queen moments later when he revealed she was the runner-up and the actual winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. He apologized via Twitter a few minutes after the mistake was broadcast, but due to some spelling errors and racists ripping him a new one because of it, the tweet was taken down. He offered a flawless apology the next day to the winner, the runner-up and the viewers at home.
I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.

I don't want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing.

Many blame the mistake on the confusing formatting design of the cue card that Harvey was given, while Harvey himself was reported saying that the teleprompter listed the wrong name. We'll never know what truly happened that night, but man, did it make for great television or what?!
