50 Cent And Tyrese Gibson Call For Chris Rock To Step Down As Oscars Host
"You mean a lot man, don't do it. Please."
The controversy surrounding the lack of diversity among this year's Academy Award nominees continues to be a hot button topic, and more tastemakers are lending their voices to the conversation.
50 Cent posted a message via Instagram geared towards the show's host, Chris Rock, asking him to step down from his hosting duties in lieu of the controversy.
Tyrese Gibson also took to the app to urge the funnyman to relieve himself of his hosting duties.
"Chris Rock do the right thing make a statement - were relying on you to DO the right thing..." he posted alongside his picture, which was composed of various headlines concerning Rock's future as the show's host.
The concerns come just days after Jada Pinkett-Smith posted a video expressing her disdain towards the event, and how she plans on boycotting it altogether. Rock has yet to respond to the Instagram posts from 50 Cent and Tyrese, but he has been plugging the Oscars on his Twitter, even going so far as to post a promo for the show with the caption, "The White BET Awards." If he goes through with hosting, this will be his second stint as the show's master of ceremonies. He first hosted in 2005.
