Adam Rodriguez To President Barack Obama: “Free Steven Avery”
Adam Rodriguez is now a vocal advocate for justice in the Steven Avery case. Netflix’s captivating docu-series Making A Murderer tells the story of how Avery was wrongfully imprisoned for 18 years for sexual assault and then faced an unjust murder charge in 2005.
After TMZ spotted Rodriguez leaving the gym in Venice, Calif., the Empire star admitted that he got “caught up” in the digital doc and is well aware of the corruption that transpired.
“From what you can see as it’s presented in that documentary, they seem to be beyond wrong,” Rodriguez says in the video clip below. “The state of Wisconsin, the individuals involved in that all seem to be guilty of criminal acts.”

Since the documentary first premiered on Netflix in December, an online petition demanding President Barack Obama to grant Avery a presidential pardon, has garnered over 300,000 signatures from supporters across the country.
Rodriguez confirms he signed the petition and encourages others to do the same. He believes Avery’s case deserves national attention.
“It’s a complete miscarriage of justice and it’s criminal, man,” he continued. “And those guys deserve to be prosecuted and this man deserves to be out. Justice is often miscarried by those that are in control of it and more often than should be. So I absolutely think the president should get involved — something this high profile and do something about it.”
Rodriguez joins a growing team of celebrities that want to see Avery pardoned from his life sentence, including The Mindy Project’s Mindy Kahling, actor Ricky Gervais, and more.
