Awesome Human Alert: Generous New Yorker Gives A Homeless Man The Shirt Off His Back
We can all learn a thing or two from this.
We can all learn a lesson on the power of giving from this New York City man.
As temperatures in the city hit blistering lows last week, a video of one man went viral as he performed a simple, yet admirable deed for one homeless man. Bringing the age-old adage “I’d give you the shirt off my back” to life, the man did just that as he approached a shirtless man on a subway train. Removing his t-shirt to give to the homeless man, he also helped the man put the shirt over his head and place it on. He then went back over to his seat to retrieve his hat, and place it on the homeless man’s head.
The scene was caught by a bystander, 21-year-old Lazaro Nolasco, who shared the ordeal on social media. According to the New York Daily News, the good deed occurred on Friday night (Jan. 8) at around 10 p.m. The man who removed his shirt reportedly also asked the homeless man if he needed to go to the hospital, to which he replied “Yes.” Nolasco got off their Brooklyn-bound A train before he could see where the two headed. His Facebook post has since garnered nearly 10 million views.
“The guy did a good deed, so I wanted to record it,” Nolasco said. “I would tell him, ‘God bless him.’ That was thoughtful.”
