One To Watch: Def Jam’s Jahkoy Drops “Odd Future”

New Releases

One of Def Jam’s latest recruits, Toronto-based/L.A. displaced artist Jahkoy, has released his new single “Odd Future.” The track, produced by WondaGurl & Nova, combines elements of both R&B and house music, a staple often heard in the 20-something’s repetoire. Jahkoy sings and spits a few bars about his scattered personal thoughts when it comes to relationships.  The song premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 on Apple Music, and was recently featured on Drake’s OVO Sound. It’s been played on his Soundcloud page over 300,000 times.

The young musician has been gaining traction since 2015 with his songs “Still In Love” and “Hold Your Hand” being played on Lowe, Elton John, Pharrell and Drake’s respective Beats 1 radio stations. He’s already received cosigns from the likes of Pitchfork, The Fader and NYLON, while Billboard named him an “Artist To Watch.”
