Ashanti Cross-Examined By Her Stalker In Court: “Why Didn’t You Tell Me To Stop?”
Unfortunately for the third time in court, Ashanti was forced to face a man who has relentlessly stalked her. Devar Hurd, 37, is representing himself against a felony stalking charge after sending lewd tweets and message to the singer back in 2013. On Wednesday (Mar. 16) Hurd cross-examined Ashanti, reading back tweets he’s written to her, including “eating p**** from the back tastes better from a flight to Russia,” TMZ reports.
Asked if she was aware of the tweet, Ashanti responded, “You continuously tweeted over and over again disgusting, derogatory, disrespectful things to me after you had already gone to jail for doing the same thing.” Hurd also questioned her, “Why didn’t you tell me to stop or block me?” The singer pleaded in response, “I wish you to stop. I just wish you to stop.”
Hurd, who claims to have had a relationship with Ashanti, also probed her about lap dances she gives fans during her live performances.
“You do lap dances for your performances, correct? I don’t have a problem with it, I’m just saying,” he said.
Hurd previously spent two years in jail for the same offense against Ashanti in 2009. The singer was also cross-examined by her stalker back in 2014, after a second charge was brought against him for continuing to send explicit tweets to Ashanti after his initial sentence. He also sent her more offensive text messages, including “wrap your thick a** thighs and legs around my shoulders and neck and palm my head and put my mouth on your tight p****.”
Hurd faces up to four years in jail, and has remained in police custody since 2013, according to the New York Daily News.
