It looks like fans of The Notorious B.I.G. will receive new tunes from the fallen MC very soon. According to MTV, Faith Evans announced that her duet album with the revered lyricist is nearing completion.

During an interview on The Dame Dash Show earlier this week, the Grammy Award winning singer updated listeners on the project’s status, which was formerly announced a year-and-a-half ago.

Titled The King & I, Evans said she’s had a long time to marinate on the direction of the album, revealing, “That’s something I’ve been thinking and talking about doing with Ms. Wallace for a long time… I’m kind of in the finishing stages.”

The highly-decorated artist also shared that the album will make B.I.G. proud. “But the way the stuff is coming together and the way I’m using his vocals, it’s just giving stuff new life,” she said. “It’s totally different. I think people are gonna like it.”

There’s no release date just yet, but this isn’t the first duet album that’s featured Biggie Smalls’ vocal presence. Released by Bad Boy Records in 2005, Duets: The Final Chapter brought together an A-team of producers and artists to pay tribute to one of hip-hop’s legendary artists. From Snoop Dogg to Jagged Edge to T.I., the 22-track project also hosted production duties from Jazze Pha, Scott Storch, The Hitmen and Swizz Beatz.
