Gabby Douglas To Champion New Docu-Series Ahead Of Olympics
Only steps off the mat from championing the title in the American Cup, Olympian Gabby Douglas will be preparing for the Olympic games. And to chronicle her journey into what will hopefully be another golden victory, is the Oxygen Media docu-series, Douglas Family Gold.
Gabby Douglas won America's heart at the age of 16, when she beat all odds and opponents at the Summer Olympics in 2012 the first African American in history to win the USA team and individual all-around gold medals. That was four years ago. Now, after a short break from the beams following the 2012 games, the 20-year-old plans to repeat her flawless flips and routines that catapulted her into athletic history.
The new docu-series will depict her journey to gold, showing the story behind her epic career. Also featuring cameos from mother, Natalie Hawkins, her grandmother and two sisters, the series will focus on the sacrifices she and her family have made over the years to get to this point.
The docu-series is meant to show the motivation, defeat, and dedication that landed Gabby Douglas to victory. “The series provides an inside look at an inspirational family who doesn’t let any obstacles stand in their way, and when dreams are on the line ‘Team Douglas’ comes together and outshines the competition,” Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development of Oxygen Media said.
Douglas Family Gold will premiere on Wednesday, March 25 on Oxygen at 10pm.
