Here’s How To Get Kerry Washington’s Noir Oscars Manicure

Award season kicked off with the 88th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 28) night, as the red carpet was one of the highlights of the night per usual.

While the exquisite gowns were eye catching, we couldn’t get over some of the manicures that hit the carpet, too.

In particular, Scandal starlet and OPI ambassador Kerry Washington marveled us with a noir manicure that matched her striking Versace leather and crepe gown. To amp up the edginess of her look, her manicure showcased a dual texture using both a matte base and glossy finish on her rounded coffin nail shape. Fierce!

For Kerry’s same look you’ll need three different OPI products: Black Onyx, Matte Top Coat and Clear Top Coat.

You’ll first want to file the tips of your nails to mimic Washington’s same coffin nail shape. Then, apply a base coat of your choice. After allowing that base to air dry, apply OPI Black Onyx Nail Lacquer and then OPI’s Matte Top Coat. (Be sure to let your nails air dray between each coat, too). After the top coat is smudge-proof and definitely dry, use a scallop stencil on each side of your nail, connecting them in the middle. Then apply OPI’s Clear Top Coat on the stencil so it will have a fly gloss.
