A Pro White Rally Takes Over An Atlanta High School's Prom Location
A high school in Atlanta, Ga., has made the decision to change its prom location this year, because of a “pro-white supremacist rally” which is taking place at Stone Mountain Park—where the prom was initially going to be held.
Peachtree Ridge High School Principal Jeff Matthews wrote a letter to parents, and stated that officials understand their concerns, according to WSB-TV. Still, the dance will be held on April 23, but will be at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta hotel instead.
Reportedly, last week school officials assured parents that their children will be out of harm’s way; stating that they don’t expect any problems to happen.
According to the news outlet, a pro-white group known as the “Rock Stone Mountain” will rally at the park, though another group called “All Out Atlanta” is planning to hold a counter-demonstration.
It’s a shame things like these are still happening and are a concern. One Peachtree Ridge student who spoke to WSB-TV agrees.
“I honestly feel like this still shouldn’t be an issue,” Gabrielle Bellany said. “But as long as we’re not near it there shouldn’t be a problem.”
