2016 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 1 - Day 1

How One Mic Ruined A$AP Rocky & Kanye West's Grand Coachella Moment

A$AP Rocky did all he could to give the fans a magical moment.

A$AP Rocky is an artist for the people in every sense of the phrase. With his music, he has been one of the most dominant New York rap stars to emerge in the last 6 years.

If Pretty Flacko's records didn't grab fans right away, than it was his fashion game, sense of style and "I don't give a f*ck" attitude. These attributes gained him herds of young adorers from every point in the world. Rocky's influence is felt both by hip-hop fans in the Bronx and the high fashion circles in Paris.

When he does something, the A$AP Mob leader wants the world to feel his presence. So it would be no shock that Jodye wanted his 2016 Coachella performance to end with the unexpected. Being that Rocky has conquered the Coachella stage numerous times, he knew he needed to bring something extra this year. He first landed on the prestigious bill in 2012.

However, Friday, Apr. 15 was meant to be one of the most talked about in his festival performance history. And, mind you, in the eyes of his fans and admirers he still won, but Flacko's last minute surprise-guest-magic-trick was a bittersweet one to all those standing in the audience.

As Kanye West's "Stretch My Hands Pt.1" beat hit the speakers and Yeezy ran onstage, we could only hear the instrumental playing -- along with a random ad-lib here and there. Imagine being dead in the middle of thousands of fans looking confused as Kanye is pouring his everything into his verse -- and we can't hear a damn thing from him. The two minutes or so of the performances dragged on and on. The seconds literally stretched into minutes for all of us there. With every passing second, we collectively thought 'they'll fix this. His mic is about to come on!'

Quickly, we realized it wasn't happening, and we were just witnessing a man feverishly yelling into a non-working microphone. Talk about a buzzkill and ball of confusion wrapped into one big ball of suck. Maybe it was simply a technical error -- the winds were blowing at dangerously high speeds in the Indio desert -- Rocky even made a statement about how his set was nearly shut down due to the weather. Maybe there was some evil doing backstage... maybe the festival gods weren't happy ... but we'll save the conspiracy theories for another day.

Hopefully, day two of Coachella 2016 pans out better for us... because we'll be there.

Still can't believe we could only hear the instrumental when Rocky brought out Kanye last night

Watch Viola Davis And Chadwick Boseman In Trailer For ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The two-minute clip released on Monday (Oct. 19), gives viewers a sneak peek at Chadwick Boseman’s final film role. The 43-year-old actor portrays the ambitious and outspoken trumpet player, Levee.

Viola Davis transforms into Ma Rainey in the Denzel Washington-produced film, centered around a 1927 Chicago recording sessions of “Mother of the Blues.”

Speaking during Monday’s press preview, Davis praised Boseman’s passion and commitment to his art. “Not to compete with Chadwick’s mother, but he was my baby. Chadwick was an artist. That is just what he was… he loved it, he demanded it in every single way. For someone so young it was incredible to watch,” said Davis.

“We are in the business, that a lot of times people have business conversations that masquerade themselves as artistic conversations. They don’t understand the difference between getting on set and demanding their vegan food being brought to them or their vegetarian dishes, or the dietary concerns, having that car ready,” she added. “ They don’t know the difference between that and making choices as an actor and getting down and dirty and doing the work and leaving your ego and your vanity at the door. He [Boseman] loved it. He demanded it. He demanded it in every single way.”

The film, Davis said, gives a window into “what Black life was like” in the '20s and ”how it was informing our relationships.”

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom debuts on Netflix on Dec. 18.Check above for the trailer.

Chadwick Boseman Died Without Will, Wife Files To Become Administrator Of His Estate

Chadwick Boseman died without having a will in place. On Thursday (Oct. 15), Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, filed probate documents in a Los Angeles Superior Court to become administrator of his estate, which is reportedly valued at $939,000 in personal property and assets.

Boseman, a resident of California but a native of South Carolina, is survived by Ledward and his parents, who were listed on the documents along with his wife. Per California law, the spouse inherits community property and splits any separate property with the parents of the deceased. Boseman likely had additional assets in a separate trust.

The 43-year-old actor passed away in August, following a four-year battle with colon cancer, which he kept secret from mostly everyone around him with the exception of a few people in his circle. Boseman and Ledward were first linked in 2015, and tied the knot sometime this year.

The Black Panther star thanked Ledward during his acceptance speech at the Screen Actors Guild last year. “Simone, you're with me every day,” he said at the time. “I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you.”
