Beyonce's Mission With Ivy Park: "To Celebrate Every Woman"
A snippet of Beyonce's interview with Elle Magazine has been released on the fashion publication's website, after her surprise cover and subsequent release of her athleisure line, Ivy Park, on Friday made headlines.
The superstar, who is rumored to be releasing an album soon, spoke about Ivy Park's mission, the pressure of perfectionism and being a businesswoman in charge of her career.
"It's really the essence: to celebrate every woman and the body she's in while always striving to be better," Bey told Elle's Tamar Gottesman. She said she called the line Ivy Park because of the park is a place where people feel welcome to do what they want to do.
"It's anywhere we create for ourselves. For me, it's the place that my drive comes from. I think we all have that place we go to when we need to fight through something, set our goals and accomplish them."
Beyonce also offered insight on why attaining perfection with our bodies is unrealistic. Instead, she aims to change the conversation in a positive way.
"It’s not about perfection. It’s about purpose. We have to care about our bodies and what we put in them." She then added that it's perfectly okay to give yourself some 'me-time' every now and then.
"Women have to take the time to focus on our mental health — take time for self, for the spiritual, without feeling guilty or selfish. The world will see you the way you see you, and treat you the way you treat yourself.”
The full-length interview and 10-page spread will hit newsstands April 6.
