Damon Dash Recalls One Of The Last Conversations He Had With Aaliyah Before Her Untimely Death
Nearing 15 years since the world was rocked by Aaliyah's tragic and sudden passing, Damon Dash shares his mindset now on the loss of his late girlfriend.
While sitting down for an interview with The Real, Dash shared that "there is no chance" the pair would've boarded that plane if he was present with her in the Bahamas. He later shared details on the last conversation he had with the "One In A Million" singer, which entailed trying to convince her not to board the plane given her apprehension on its safety.
"She told me she was going to the Bahamas, and I was against it, like, 'Yo, don't go,'" Dash said. "And then down to the last -- we had the Blackberry -- down to the last Blackberry that we had, before she went there she was like, 'Yo, I don't like that plane.' And I was like, 'Don't get on it.' And she was just like, 'You know, I gotta do it.' You know, it was a complicated situation, but she had to go do that video."
The Harlemite added that he would've checked every crevice of the small plane to make sure that it was safe, but understands that "everything happens for a reason."
"If I was there, I would have made sure that that jet that was supposed to be for her? She would have been on that. I wouldn't have got on that plane, you know what I'm saying?" he mentioned. "So it probably would have been different. But you know, everything happens for a reason. You know, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and you just gotta deal with the cards that life deals you."
