Kesha Was Reportedly Asked To Recant Her Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Dr. Luke
Pop star Kesha took to Instagram and claimed she was asked to recant her sexual abuse allegations against producer Dr. Luke in order to be freed from her label Sony Music, People reports.
The embattled songbird posted a selfie with the caption "So. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again."
The "Tik Tok" singer has been in the news for her attempt to sue her longtime producer for sexually abusing and assaulting her, which she says contributed to her eating disorder and rehab stint. Dr. Luke vehemently denies these allegations, and is countersuing Kesha for breach of contract and defamation.
In February, a judge denied Kesha's injunction to produce and release music outside of Sony Music. A rep for the producer wrote to People and said Kesha is free to record music without Luke's help, as it was determined after the February verdict.
"Kesha's Instagram posting is false," the statement said. "The court repeatedly stated Kesha is already free to record without Dr. Luke, and that she had not presented any facts supporting her claims...The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke through publicity stunts and outrageous smears..."
