Watch Luther Vandross Render Arsenio Hall Speechless In A Capella Version Of "If Only For One Night"
It's been a little more than a decade since R&B and soul music lost Luther Vandross, and while the musical landscape has drastically changed in the 11 years since his untimely death, Vandross' songs still hold not only sentimental value for the lovers of the world, but stand as a bar for which all male vocalist try and reach. But it's Luther, so no one actually does.
With a little more than three weeks before what would've been Vandross' 65th birthday, Facebook Group "I Love Old School Music" dug up footage of a surprise appearance by the late R&B crooner on the beloved Arsenio Hall Show. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, rappers, singers, movie stars activists and even a young Bill Clinton stopped by the Arsenio Hall Show to speak to the people and see if they could merit a nod of approval from the late night talk show host and earn some cool points while doing it.
At the request of Hall, Vandross sang his 1985 hit "If Only For One Night" from his album The Night I Fell In Love to an eager audience (and a zealous Hall) who simply wanted to see up close what Vandross does best.
