“Me And Mrs. Jones” Soul Singer Billy Paul Dies At 80
It seems as if music is losing legends left and right.
On Sunday (April 24) soul-singer Billy Paul, best known for his 1972 hit “Me and Mrs. Jones” died. He was 80 years old. A statement on the singer’s website said Paul died of a “serious medical condition”, however NME reports Paul suffered from pancreatic cancer.
The Philadelphia born soul singer performed alongside greats such as Nina Simone and and Charlie Parker in his youth before making it own his own. Paul’s Grammy award winning “Me and Mrs. Jones” about an marital affair has been covered many times over and goes down as one of R&B’s best.
Paul is survived by his wife Blanch Williams. Rest In Peace Mr. Paul.
