According to TIME, the study counts anyone who was 18 to 34-years-old in 2015 as a millennial. With the help of Census Bureau Data, the generation is now half-million larger than baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) totaling 75.4 million millennials.

The influx of millennials stems from young immigrants which started more than 50 years ago. The Washington Post reports the growth of immigration from the 1940’s helped grow the presence. Another prominent generation–Generation X is also looking to outnumber baby boomers by 2028.

So what does this all mean? If you’ve been paying attention to the recent shifts in society, this can mean a number of things. Millennials have been predicted to hold some traits dear to their minds and wallets such as saving money and less inclined to invest in the housing market. They’re also more accepting of marijuana legalization and gay marriage. Lastly, they’ve been reported to be the largest generation in the workplace.

Because baby boomers are less inclined to migrate to the U.S, the numbers are continuing to decline. Experts believe the group will decrease to an astounding 16.6 million by 2050.
