Snoop Dogg & Producer Karriem Riggins Remember J Dilla
J Dilla lives on through the fans and artists that loved him.
Recently Big Snoop Dogg hopped on the Hi-Tek-produced "Gangsta Boogie," a song from the J Dilla's much-anticipated album, The Diary.
The good folks over at Mass Appeal snatched Snoop for a brief sit-down about what he loves about Dilla. During the interview, The Dogg remembers hearing Dilla's name ringing in hip-hop circles back during the early ‘90s.
"I never had a chance to work with him personally," Snoop said. "He was making hot music around the same time I was making hot music, and I was just hearing about him and wanted to get with him. And when he passed away I reached out to his people, and wanted them to know that I definitely wanted to work with him."
Snoop continues: "Dilla being able to tap into that Detroit, that lane, it's a lane that Detroit boys got. It's something about it, and he was able to bring it all the way to life."
Mass Appeal also spoke with producer Karriem Riggins to find out how Dilla inspired him and his career.
The Diary drops Apr. 15. Check both interviews below.
