Stevie Wonder Sorrowfully Looks Back On Friendship With Prince: “He Was Just A Great Musician”

One of Prince’s closest friends and collaborators, Stevie Wonder, shared touching memories of the late singer, who passed away at the age of 57 on Thursday morning (Apr. 21).

During an appearance on CNN with Anderson Cooper, Wonder fought back tears while recalling his fondest memories of the “Little Red Corvette” singer.

“He was just a great musician, and very cognizant of what his responsibility was as a musician and a human being,” he said. “To do what he did without fear was a wonderful thing.”

When asked by Cooper to sing or play one of his favorite songs by Prince, Wonder shared that he thinks he’d “probbably break down if I do a song right now.” Wonder was visibly distraught by the news and having to speak about the late legend’s passing swelled him up with emotion.
