The Boogie Down is all the way lit, and not because a wave of arson is plaguing its communities like back in the ’70s (although circumstances are only relatively better, considering today’s urban decay and violence). “Ted Cruz has no business being in the Bronx. This is an immigrant community,” protested political rapper Rodstarz of Rebel Diaz at a Ted Cruz campaign event at a Chinese-Dominican restaurant. “We deal with climate change every single day, and he wants to say that it doesn’t exist. We are one of the poorest congressional districts in the country. And to receive this rightwing bigot is an insult to the whole community.”

The Chilean activist, who uses his music as a tool to spread messages about injustice, was escorted by NYPD as he further declared the Republican candidate unworthy of walking the streets of his native borough. “I’m with the people and I represent Hunts Point in the South Bronx, where Ted Cruz is not welcomed.”
