Activists Johnetta Elzie, Feminista Jones & More To Take Part In "EmpowerHER" Leadership Conference
The event will highlight the importance of Black women in activism, technology and creativity.
As an ode to the growing market of black professionals in technology, business and civil leadership, tech and multimedia company Blavity has launched a special conference dedicated to the power of black women in each field.
The Blavity EmpowerHER Conference will help black millennials excel in and out the workplace with special panels designed to connect women of all industries. In an emailed statement to Vibe, Founder and CEO Morgan DeBaun explains the mission of the conference and buying power of black millennials. “Major corporations who aren’t paying attention to Black millennials, are missing out on a huge business opportunity," she said. "Millennial women of color are the most engaged consumers, fastest growing group of innovators and hold sizable buying power and influence. They are constantly looking for new ways to connect and grow, and Blavity wanted to create a special space just for them through the EmpowerHer Conference.”
Guests at the EmpowerHER Conference include a combination of social media influencers such as #OscarsSoWhite creator April Reign, activists Johnetta Elzie and Feminista Jones, Fashion designer Kelechi, Evita Robinson of travel vlog Nomadness Tribe and more.
The event kicks off on May 21 at 8 a.m. filled with discussions and networking opportunities. A cocktail hour will follow after the conference.
