Mariah Carey Clarifies Her "I Don't Know Her" J.Lo Comment
...but stays silent when asked about Nicki Minaj.
Mariah Carey returned to Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live Tuesday (May 17) to discuss a few things including her upcoming nuptials to fiance James Packer, ex-husband Nick Cannon's new back tattoo, (which replaced his infamous Mariah tat) and her thoughts on Beyonce's Lemonade.
However, Cohen couldn't let Carey leave without asking a few questions about her "bestie" and fellow Vegas residency performer Jennifer Lopez. If you remember, Back in 2000, Carey famously said she doesn't know who Jennifer Lopez is, and then again in March stuck to her story when TMZ asked her again.
"I still don't know her, " Carey said.
Maybe sensing that for the past 16 years her comments have been taken out of context, the 46-year-old singer-songwriter clarified.
"You know what, I'm very forgetful," Carey, jokingly repeating what J.Lo said to Wendy Williams when asked about her tiff with the singer. "Apparently, I'm forgetful because I don't remember the fact that it was just like 'Hi, I'm so and so,' and then move on. If I've never had a conversation with you I'd be like 'I don't know him, but he seems cool. Or 'I don't know him' "
Cohen further pressed the issue by asking the five time Grammy award winner if Lopez does in fact seem cool.
"I don't know her," Carey insisted. "Like, what am I suppose to say?"
Carey continued by saying of course she knows who the "Ain't Your Mama" singer is, but doesn't know her know her to comment on her character.
Before wrapping up the segment, Cohen asked Carey if she could say three nice things about former American Idol co-host Nicki Minaj, to which Carey offered up one of the most robust blank stares into a oblivion ever captured in television history.
"Can you?" Carey asked of Cohen.
Oh Mariah. What will we do with you?
