Young Thug, K Camp & DeJ Loaf Gave Atlanta A Musical Experience To Remember At Pandora Presents ‘The ATL’

With a successfully thriving music scene that has ushered in the likes of hip-hop sub-genre’s crunk and trap, and even delivered some astounding R&B and neo-soul offshoots for the past two decades, the city of Atlanta is still booming with unique sounds that undeniably move the globe.

On an abnormally chilly May night (May 5), popular music streaming service Pandora Internet Radio set up shop in the heart of downtown Atlanta at the historic Tabernacle, a mid-size concert hall that has housed sold out crowds for every artist imaginable from Prince to Guns N’ Roses to Kendrick. As their official concert debut in the hub of southern bangers, Pandora presented locals with The ATL, a special night of live music from Atlanta-native’s Young Thug and K Camp, alongside Detroit’s very own Def Loaf, who has had much success in the city.

A (free!) experience exclusively reserved for Pandora users, the night was definitely a musical experience to remember as the trio shook the crowd their well-known radio hits and more recent material. Dej Loaf kept things Godly per usual in an all white ensemble and fly shades, serenading concert-goers with her sing, song-y flow on tracks like “Try Me,” “Back Up,” and” My Beyoncé.” Included in the artists sets were surprise guests that kept the crowd on their toes, too. 2 Chainz came through and dropped his verse on K Camp’s Billboard Hot 100 charting “Cut Her Off,” and things went all the way up when the beat to their latest offering “5 Minutes” dropped.

The night’s headliner, Young Thug, didn’t disappoint. Flip-flopping between hits and deep cuts from Slime Season 3, Barter 6, I’m Up, Thuga Thug, and more, the polarizing rapper offered a tribute to Prince by adorning his mic with the late musician’s “Love Symbol” and decorating the stage with a life-size cutout of the stylish Purple One. Thug also brought Quavo and Takeoff of the Migos on stage to pipe up the crowd, alley-ooping the mic to newcomer Lil Yatchy for “1Night.” He then turned the show into a family affair calling his girlfriend to the stage, serenading her with “Mine.” And to close out the night, he called on his sisters Dolly and Dora to whip and nae nae with him to “Best Friend.”

A much-deserved honorary mention goes to 808 Mafia producer TM88, who held down the DJ booth like a maestro with a lituation of a mixes and even kept the show going from open to close, excitedly interacting with the crowd with dance moves, mini moshing and daps and pounds.
