Twitter Reportedly Suspends Azealia Banks’ Account

Following an intensely controversial week on social media, it looks like Twitter decided to suspend Azealia Banks’ account.

Earlier this week, the Harlemite came under fire after she aimed racist comments at singer Zayn Malik, who she accused of stealing creative ideas from her past videos. After her racist tirade, Banks was pulled from London’s Born & Bred Festival lineup.

In her Twitter rant, Banks aimed racial slurs in Malik’s direction. “When your entire extended family has been obliterated by good ol the U.S of A will you still be trying to act like a white boy pretending to be black? Do you understand that you are a sand n—– who emulates white boys’ renditions of black male hood? Do you know how lost and culture less you are?”

The “Chasing Time” artist also reportedly came under scrutiny by the U.K.’s Home Office, NME reports, which stemmed from her comments on Malik. In a statement issued to the site on a possible investigation which might result in a ban from the U.K., the establishment writes:

“Coming to the UK is a privilege, and we expect those who come here to respect our shared values. The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds.”

Banks didn’t stop there though, also posting insensitive comments in Disney’s Skai Jackson’s direction. Since that time, Jackson’s mother responded in a lengthy Instagram post on the matter.

“This industry is too small for her to be saying something she might regret later. She’s too old to go at it with a 14 year old, but not too young for me to see her! I don’t play those games!”
