Ladies First: VH1’s ‘Hip Hop Honors’ To Celebrate Groundbreaking Females In Hip-Hop
After a six-year long hiatus, VH1’s ‘Hip-Hop Honors’ is set to return this summer, and this time, it’s all about the ladies that paved the way in the genre.
In a press release, VH1 said the 2016 show will “pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers, and trend-setters who lead a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.”
The show will air live at 9 p.m. from New York City on July 11, and will be produced by Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Flavor Unit. The ceremony was started in 2004, and has honored hip-hoppers like MC Lyte, Snoop Dogg, Run-DMC and 2Pac, just to name a few.
Which fierce females are you hoping they honor this year?
