The actor, who portrays Detective William “Bunk” Moreland on the HBO show, struck up a conversation with a woman and her boyfriend around 3:30 a.m. at an Atlanta hotel, and after the talk became political, things started getting ugly. Pierce is reportedly a supporter of Hillary Clinton.

TMZ writes that Pierce “pushed the boyfriend and then went after his girlfriend … grabbing her hair and smacking her in the head. Our source says the girl and her boyfriend went to their room and called hotel security, who then called cops. Pierce was arrested and booked for battery.  He posted $1,000 bond and was released.” Pierce was released the same day according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
