'Beasts Of No Nation' Breakout Star Abraham Attah Joins 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'
The Hollywood newcomer is the latest addition to the reboot's ever-growing cast
Breakout star Abraham Attah attracted a significant amount of conversation for his debut performance as Agu, the beleaguered child soldier in the Netflix film Beasts Of No Nation. But now, it seems as though the young actor is firmly planting the seeds for what could be a lasting acting career. According to Deadline, the 15-year-old Hollywood newcomer has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the latest reiteration in a long line of film adaptations featuring everyone's favorite resident web-slinger.
It could be easily assumed that Attah's performance in Beasts Of No Nation played a vital role in his casting. For his performance in the Netflix film, Attah earned his fair share of accolades, including the Independent Spirit Award For Best Male Lead and a Critics' Choice Award nomination.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has become notable for its large roster of minority actors, a nice tidbit of news considering the backlash Hollywood has drawn for its lack of diversity on and off the camera. Although details regarding who Attah will be playing in Spider-Man: Homecoming are unknown, the actor is just the latest addition in a cast that includes Tom Holland, Laura Harrier, Hannibal Burress, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi, and Zendaya, who is set to play the female lead. The film is set to open on July 7, 2017.
