Hollywood Newcomers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah To Direct 'Beverly Hills Cop 4'
The directorial duo is set to breed new life into the action franchise.
Fans of the Beverly Hills Cop film franchise can cease holding their breath and commence leaping with joy. According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has tapped Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct the long awaited fourth installment in the Eddie Murphy-fronted action comedy series.
Although relatively new to the world of Hollywood, the duo made quite a splash at last year's Toronto Film Festival with their latest directorial effort, Black. The film, which was endowed with the festival's Discovery Award, chronicles the life of a 15-year-old girl in a predominantly black gang who falls in love with a Moroccan boy from a rival gang.
While the film was initially set to be released last March, it was pulled from the studios release slate a little over a year ago. Paramount Pictures is reportedly eyeing for a production date either later this year or the early months of 2017. The film will see Eddie Murphy return to the role of wisecracking cop Axel Foley, with a script written by seasoned scribes Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec. The film will also see Murphy reunite with Brett Ratner, who is set to executive produce the film. The two previously worked together on the 2011 comedy Tower Heist.
