Chicago: 13 Killed, More Than 50 Shot Over Father’s Day Weekend
City reaches 300 homicides for the year.
Dozens were shot in Chicago over Father’s Day weekend, marking another bloody run for the Windy City. According to the Chicago Tribune, the city surpassed 300 homicides over a 60-hour period of gun violence that began on Friday (June 17) and into Monday.
A total of 13 people were killed and at least 56 sustained bullet injuries, including 3-year-old Devin Quinn who was shot while riding in a car with his dad on Father’s Day.
The two were headed to pick-up the boy's mother when bullets sprayed the vehicle. Quinn's father rushed him to a hospital where he received emergency surgery, and is expected to survive.
Among the dead is a 21-year-old man supposedly killed by an AK-47 assault rifle, and a 73-year-old victim of a reported murder-suicide.
Roughly 25 people were wounded, and three people killed, between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.
