Pepsi Resuscitates Crystal Cola, Celebrates 90s With Oregon Trail-Inspired Game

Throwback Thursday will never be the same.

Over two decades after its first inception and introduction to the world in 1992, Pepsi Cola is bringing back its fan-favorite soft drink, Crystal Pepsi. The iconic clear cola will officially be available for a limited time in select stores and foodservice locations across the nation (on August 8) and Canada (on July 11).

To make this year’s Summer of Crystal Pepsi that much more memorable, the global brand is launching a 90’s pop culture inspired version of the popular PC game, “The Oregon Trail,” and dubbing it “The Crystal Pepsi Trail.”

“We’ve always had a special place in our heart for Crystal Pepsi, and there has been a huge groundswell of support to bring it back,” said Stacy Taffet, Senior Director, Marketing, Pepsi. “What better way to celebrate this iconic 90s cola than to introduce a new take on one of the most beloved games of the decade. Totally rad!”

The interactive game features nostalgic a ’92 station wagon as the traditional mode of transportation, a throwback mall, random items like a bucket hat or pager along the road (or trail) and more. Unfortunately, the game won’t be available to play online until July 7th. Until then, bookmark, and peep what’s to come in the trailer below.
