JR Smith Thanks Parents And Family In Emotional Post-Game Interview

Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals didn’t disappoint basketball fans or sports lovers the nation over, and while Stephen Curry and Golden State put up their best effort, it was Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers who earned the title, and walked out of the Oracle Arena with the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

And while the now famous photo of James crying began to make the rounds, JR Smith also wasn’t too cool for school and followed suit showing unabashed emotion. The 30-year-old shooting guard continued to let his tears flow during his post-game interview in what is being heralded as one of the best and most honest moments of the 2016 NBA playoffs.

Using his moment to thank those who helped him along the way, Smith showed immense humility and gratitude to his family and parents for helping him when times got rough and always sticking by his side.

“They’re the biggest inspiration in my life. I’ve been in a lot of dark spots and if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to get out of it,” Smith said.
