Michelle Obama And Daughters Go On Tour To Promote Girls’ Education

Monday (June 27) Michelle Obama–accompanied by her mother, Sasha and Malia–touched down in Liberia to spread girl power and the importance of education for young girls.

Reportedly, the First Lady visited a leadership camp for girls in Liberia. Let Girls Learn, an initiative started by President Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama last year, received $27 million in funding from USAID during her visit. Mid-terms were postponed at Caulfield school to allow the girls to give Mrs. Obama a warm welcome.

“I’m here to shine a big light on you,” Obama says as she greets the class. This month has been a great example of Mrs. Obama’s commitment to women empowerment. Earlier this month, the White House held the State Of Women Summit where influential women across the country came to share their stories and offer their expertise. Obama and the Let Girls Learn Initiative will also be visiting Morocco and Spain.
