Rihanna And Roc Nation Look To Avoid Lawsuit For 2013 Show Cancellation
Rihanna and Jay Z have been in business with each other for a while now since Jay’s label Roc Nation signed the pop singer to a deal back in 2004. Now they may have a bit of trouble on their hands after a show was canceled in 2013.
Nigerian concert promoter, Chris Ubosi, filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday (June 6), alleging that he and his company were stiffed out of $160,000 after Rihanna didn’t end up performing three years ago.
The New York Daily News reported that Ubosi agreed to pay $435,000 for a 65-minute show at the popular Eko Hotel and put up the $160,000 in advance. When the concert was pushed back to July, a new date still hadn’t been set, so he decided to cancel. Ubosi ended up never receiving that money back.
Roc Nation doesn’t seem to be worried and told Complex News that “unfortunately this person was scammed. Rihanna nor Roc Nation collected any money for this event.”
