Thundercat Brings The Easy-Going Vibes And Musicianship To Governors Ball

Live Reviews

After he strapped on his bass guitar and his band took their positions at the drums and the keyboard, Thundercat was ready to coat Governors Ball attendees with intricate musical notes from his noteworthy melodies.

Known for working with a bevy of artists from Kendrick Lamar to Flying Lotus, Thundercat, born Stephen Bruner, transcends all genres thanks to his envious knowledge of music or instrumentation, and the power that it conveys to instantly change your mindset or make your body sway.

One of his other memorable moments was his performance of “Them Changes.” Even though the lyrics have a dark feeling to them, the funk essence automatically made you do a little two step given the limited space you had to dance.

Then “Tron Song” wrapped you in a melodic daze, clinging onto his every lyric and strum of the guitar because you didn’t want that serene feeling to pass.

There’s something about the feeling you get from experiencing a live band. It’s an unexplainable sensation that can only be understood if you witness it for yourself. Thundercat is one of those people who can transmit¬†that notion on concertgoers, and his Governors Ball appearance was proof enough to back that claim.
