Tina Knowles Lawson Responds To Blacklash Following BET Awards Acceptance Speech

Tina Knowles got up and accepted an award on Beyonce's behalf with class, beauty, and an awkward acceptance speech.

Beyoncé lit up the stage with her surprise performance of “Freedom” featuring Kendrick Lamar at the BET Awards this past Sunday (June 26). But once the performance was over, Beyoncé was nowhere to be found. The icon was nominated in five categories, and awarded the “Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award” for her song, "Formation" in which her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson got up and accepted the award on her behalf with class, beauty, and an awkward acceptance speech.

“On behalf of my beautiful daughter, who is on a plane — she had to run straight from the stage and get on the plane and fly to London for a concert," she said. "Hopefully she’ll make it in time. But that’s how important this awards show was for her to show up.”

The Beyhive immediately called bluff when they noticed that her London tour wasn’t her next stop. The tour Ms. Tina meant to say was in northeast England, Sunderland, that isn’t until two nights later on Tuesday (June 28). The following day, Tina Knowles went to her Instagram to explain that it was an honest mistake and that she’s disappointed to be receiving backlash.

“I just got a wind of the mess that has festered since last night! The fact that I supposedly lied about my Daughters concert. First of all I did make a mistake on the city and the day," she said. "I asked why did she have to leave early and was told by a member of her staff that 'she had to get back in time for her concert' and that she actually should have been there 2 days before, as the tour has been down for a month I assumed the date was Monday and the city was London well it turned out to be in the Uk but wrong city and on Tuesday. I want to point out that there is a nine hour time difference and it is an eleven to 12 hour Flight that equates to 19-20 hrs to get there!”

Hello guys first let me sayI just got a wind of the mess that has festered since last night ! The fact that I supposedly lied about my Daughters concert . First of all I did make a mistake on the city and the day . I asked why did she have to leave early and was told by a member of her staff that "she had to get back in time for her concert " and that she actually should have been there 2 days before, as the tour has been down for a month I assumed the date was Monday and the city was London well it turned out to be in the Uk but wrong city and on Tuesday. I want to point out that there is a nine hour time difference and it is an eleven to 12 hour Flight that equates to 19 - 20 hrs to get there! I then want to ask what would be the point of lying to the public and knowing that anyone could see when the date was. Any one with good sence could see that ! I am hurt and disappointed because I know what kind of work, sacrifice , and personal Money it took for her to do this show and support the Bet Award show and to give her fans that did not get to attend the concert a piece of her show. (Even though it means she has one day to rehearse herself and dancers after being off for a month) That was really important to to her. Although everyone told her this is going to take a toll on your tour because you will only have one day to rehearse and you and the dancers will have been off for a month. You will be exhausted because you get to the states on Thursday rehearse for Bet fly to Mexico to be with your Sister for her Birthday on Friday get back to La on Sunday and start rehearsals at Bet At 7 am . (Who else would get three hours of sleep like that? ) Book a huge private plane to carry your dancers and creative staff and choreographers road Managers and pay for it out of your own pocket. Who does that? Please understand that I absolutely am not doing this for anyone but my self ! I know I owe no explanation to anyone but I am tired of people writing my story. So I chose to tell my own ! Thanks for listening??continued on next post

This is exactly what I was talking about . We start lies and false rumors about our entertainers we celebrate when they stumble, we hope that they fall . We put them against each other when it's room for them all! We talk negative about them and even their children which should be off limits . When they are gone we cry and say how much we loved them and cherish them we salute them in tributes . Well how about we do that when they are here 🌷I am sorry this is soo long but I had to get it off my chest! You guys are soo sweet and understand please! I I know I owe no one an explanation this is for me not anyone else . I am tired of letting people tell my story ! As Micheal Jackson would say "with Love". Wake up people ????????????💜💜💜God Bless all of you ??

Ms. Tina is not here for the haters. One thing is for sure, Beyoncé walked away with Video of the Year, Viewer’s Choice Award, Centric Award, and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist reminding everyone that, she’s still the Queen… no matter where she goes.

Meek Mill, Jay-Z Push Criminal Justice Initiative REFORM

Since Meek Mill's release from prison in April 2018, the Philadelphia native embarked on a new journey to help those unjustly trapped by the criminal justice system while fighting his own personal case.

On Wednesday (Jan. 23), the MMG rapper, Jay-Z, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, social activist Van Jones, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin and more announced the launch of REFORM, an organization that aims to tackle the criminal justice system's perils by implementing effective strategies to revamp its current state. Jones will also serve as CEO.

Part of the organization will highlight the establishment of a fair parole/probation system, a mandate that has followed Meek Mill since his late teens. Recently, the "Trauma" artist expressed his desire to end his parole, which he's been under state supervision for over a decade.

I just wanna get off probation I been on this shit my whole adult life ... 11 years of asking for permission 🤯

On the subject of Mill's case, Jay-Z penned an op-ed for the New York Times where he highlights the country's crippling parole system. "The specifics of Meek's case inspired me to write this. But it's time we highlight the random ways people trapped in the criminal justice system are punished every day," he wrote in late 2017. "The system treats them as a danger to society, consistently monitors and follows them for any minor infraction — with the goal of putting them back in prison."
